Mission

The Gombrowicz in Performance database documents productions of the four plays of Witold Gombrowicz as well as productions of plays based on the author’s non-dramatic works. The selection criteria are broad: amateur and academic productions are included in addition to professional productions. The amount of information on each production varies according to the availability of sources such as theater programs, press reports, theater websites and scholarly articles.

Gombrowicz’s plays and plays based on his stories, novels and diaries have been performed in 34 languages. Approximately two-thirds of the productions in the database originated outside of Poland.
